ProjectTech4Dev aims to be a high performing tech enabler for nonprofits. At Project Tech4Dev, we provide solutions ranging from providing open source platforms to NGOs to building tech capacity in nonprofits. We equip non-profits with the technology they need to amplify their impact. Our open source platforms include- Glific, Dalgo, and Avni. Financially, Tech4Dev has a hybrid structure with a for-profit business (“For-Profit”) and a non-for-profit division (“NFP Existing”). A new Section 8 company (“NFP New”) has been recently incorporated - eventually the operations will be transitioned from current NFP existing to NFP New. In addition, we also have a US 501(c)(3) (“US Entity”) for ease of raising grants in the USA.
We are looking for a strategic and execution-focused Head of Finance with broad and deep experience in both Accounting Finance and Strategic Finance to join our leadership team and guide the organisation finances from a strategic and operational points of view.
Qualifications & Experiences
Minimum 15 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a strategic leadership role. Experience in mid-sized organizations (50+ employees) is preferred. Familiarity with the social sector is desirable. For candidates transitioning from the corporate sector, we will arrange a short term volunteering assignment to ensure a fit between your goals and the sector's needs.
Skills & Competencies
- Financial Leadership– Strong understanding of financial operations, strategy, compliance, and risk management.
- Experience with compliance aspects of non profit operations
- Experience with Strategic Finance in using financial insights for long-term decision-making and business strategy.
- Experience in building and leading financial teams.
- Familiar with financial software systems used to manage organizations
- Learning and adapting mindset to fit with org needs, capabilities, and constraints
- Relationship building and strong communication and presentation skills
- Belief in technology as an enabler and using tech tools for the organization
- Approachable with a good attitude and empathy towards work done in the social sector
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic insight in developing reporting and forecasting frameworks to support effective decision-making. This includes instituting streamlined monthly reporting on cash flow, operational performance, and compliance, and establishing a rolling 4-quarter and next 2 fiscal year forecasts across key P&L & balance sheet items (including revenue, donations, expenditures, cash flow, EBITDA, net profit, reserves) and fundraising outlooks.
- Design and drive systems to ensure compliance with all statutory regulations (TDS, GST, FCRA, 80G, 12A, etc.), working closely with the legal and CA partners across both for-profit and non-profit entities.
- Evaluating existing financial operations and systems —covering grants and revenue tracking, vendor payments, payroll, invoicing, bank reconciliations, and statutory compliance—and identifying opportunities for process prioritisation and optimisation and leading implementation.
- Build capacity of the finance function : The Head of Finance will assess the current finance team’s capabilities, identify gaps, recommend staffing or partnership solutions as needed, and provide strategic and operational guidance to ensure timely and accurate execution of core financial functions (e.g., invoicing, collections, reimbursements, vendor management).
- Partner with leadership to develop financial policies and internal controls that align with Project Tech4Dev’s vision for growth and resilience.
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to support data-driven decision-making and resource allocation.
- Oversee grants management, including tracking restricted funding, donor reporting, and ensuring financial stewardship of partner funds.
- Support donor pitch decks or proposals, advisory board/board member engagement and cross-functional Collaboration
Work Location and Travel
- Work remotely
- Required travel every 4 months for a week for Project Tech4dev team meeting
- Required to travel to events and meetings as per the need of the position, typically once or twice a quarter
Pay Range
- We expect to hire candidates with significant differences in years of experience, skill level and reasons for moving to the social sector. Hence, our pay range is a bit broader than normal
- The pay range for this position is expected to be between 32 LPA and 45 LPA
- Our goal is to build a great working environment and workplace culture and give folks the opportunity to visit and work with NGOs, attend local and national conferences, and work as a group once a quarter at a nice location and place
